Oak Harbor Day One - Grandma's Old House

After arriving at Oak Harbor, we went to our  motel and took showers and cleaned up and changed into our  Sunday Best Clothes.  Next we went off to church at the Pen Cove Ward services at Oak Harbor.  It turns out there are three wards (units) of the LDS church in Oak Harbor.  We got the 1:00PM Sacrament Meeting.  After church we went off to find Grandma Boyer's old home.

We found the home and meet the lady living there now.  She is Mrs. Peterson.  She was super nice and even let us in to see the inside of the house.  Susan was delighted.  We told Mrs. Peterson that we had come out to Oak Harbor to find out more about Susan's family history.  Susan told Mrs. Peterson that she was the great-great grand daughter of Samel Lindsay Maylor, one of the first settlers in Oak Harbor.

Mrs. Peterson shared with us her family history and it turned out that she and Susan are cousins, they share a common great grandmother.  Mrs. Peterson gave us interesting things about the other family we were interested in finding out more about, the Hoffmans.  Mary Reka Hoffman married Alfred Summerville Lindsay Maylor, Susan's great grandfather.

Here are some pictures we took of the home:
